Outspoken. Outstanding. These two words have become synonymous with Hot Docs and our cutting-edge documentaries. Each year we present over 150 films from Canada and around the globe, inspiring new perspectives and critical debate on the key issues of our time.
Over the past six years, Hot Docs’ education programs have grown exponentially and have positively impacted thousands of youth across Ontario. This would not have been possible without the generous support from our personal champions that that have made donations throughout the year, and through our Festival box office and mobile giving campaigns.
Our programs for youth share the transformative power of film with both young audiences and filmmakers. We are pleased to report that our Docs for Schools program, which offers FREE in-school and in-theatre screenings of Hot Docs selections, has now become a key element of the school spring calendar. We also take great pride in preparing education packages with valuable background information, creative lesson plans, and links to the Ontario curriculum for each film in the program. This year, our Docs for Schools program will reach 300 high schools and 60,000 youth across Ontario.
With our loyal supporters, we’ve built a community of avid doc fans, emerging and established filmmakers, and the next generation of film buffs.
