A small Czech farming community is forever transformed by the arrival of big business, as its inhabitants face pressure to sell land to make way for a South Korean Hyundai plant. One by one, farmers buckle from the pressure and death threats, giving up their food-producing fields for an assembly line of cars. The filmmakers return to Nošovice two years after the dramatic property buyouts to find the once rolling green hills bisected by a long, straight, lonely highway. A massive, shiny building that more closely resembles a UFO than a car factory seems comically out of place. Land rights, labour issues, culture clashes and big business inform this humorous yet politically charged and timely documentary, told from the perspective of seven characters. Heather Haynes
