JESUS CAMP
D: Rachel Grady and Heidi Ewing | USA | 2006
Nominee - Academy Award, Best Documentary Feature 2006
From directors Rachel Grady and Heidi Ewing (DETROPIA, Hot Docs Official Selection 2012), JESUS CAMP shows how a growing number of Evangelical Christians believe in the political and moral importance of a Christian presence in America, especially for children.
At Pastor Becky Fischer’s Kids on Fire summer camp, children as young as six are taught to be dedicated Christian soldiers. Jesus Camp follows Levi, Rachel and Tory as they hone their “prophetic gifts” and are schooled in how to “take back America for Christ”. A first-ever look into an intense training camp for born-again Christian children, it is an unsettling glimpse at evangelical America.
