I’m Dangerous with Love
85 minutes | North American Premiere | Rating: 18A
Dimitri had been addicted to heroin for 20 years when a single dose of ibogaine, a powerful hallucinogen derived from the root of a West African plant, stopped his addiction cold. Dimitri has since devoted his life to helping other addicts as an ibogaine provider, though ibogaine is illegal in the United States, classified under the strictest drug regulations. The ibogaine user can expect violent purging, psychedelic visions, and temporary paralysis as part of the effect, and a bad experience with a client sends Dimitri in search of guidance. Filmmaker Michel Negroponte follows Dimitri across continents and to uncharted states of consciousness in this raw and epic journey that speaks to a greater phenomenon of emptiness and a generation seeking second chances. - Sarafina DiFelice
