Krisis - GR2011 - The Prism
In 2004 Greece played host to a spectacular summer Olympic games. A few short years later, the country was experiencing economic collapse, widespread public rage and destruction. As events played out on the world stage, social unrest escalated. If economic collapse and default were the symptoms of an inefficient system was the nanny state, corruption, bureaucracy or hubris the cause? In 2011, two friends and 14 multimedia artists embarked on a cross-country journey. They photographed, documented and recorded impressions, images and ideas that the traditional media might have overlooked. Their collective and visually stunning journey includes artists, historians, politicians, students and average citizens. Together, they try to understand the events that have so dramatically transformed life in this storied part of the world. Chris McDonald
