Love Arranged
60 minutes | India United Arab Emirates | English | North American Premiere | Rating: PG
Romance is everywhere in the Bollywood-drenched world of modern India. But what happens when love doesn’t work out? Two internationally educated, beautiful Indian women pushing 30 still haven’t found Mr. Right. Even though their parents married for love, Divya and Neha decide not to leave finding a husband to chance, and try their luck instead with arranged marriages. London-born, Canadian-educated Divya moved back to India two years ago. She’s smart, hard-partying, opinionated and too busy—planning weddings—to find a husband. Neha is a sweet, traditional, animal-loving graphic artist who’s comfortable with her curviness, but has been hurt on the dating scene by men wanting the trendy skinny type. The two modern girls walk backwards into a socio-cultural minefield: they bravely retain their dignity while enduring old-fashioned prejudices in this funny, insightful and ultimately humbling journey to find ‘a suitable boy’ in the internet age.
