Zsolt Eross is Hungary’s most successful mountaineer, and quite possibly its most dashing, determined and charismatic, too. After ascending eight of the world’s highest peaks, a deadly avalanche in the high Tatras mountains leaves Eross with the first of several life-altering decisions. Determined to overcome the loss of his lower right leg, Eross tackles what is perhaps the most intractable obstacle he has yet to confront—the physical therapy and rehabilitation that will allow him to return to the mountains and climb once again. This personal story of passion and human perseverance unfolds with tremendous access to the subject and his changing environs, as we move from the confines of a hospital room, to the comfort of Eross’ home and family, and finally to the Himalaya’s spectacular Cho Oyu, the sixth-highest peak in the world.
