Shaw Media-Hot Docs Funds

Established in April 2008, the Shaw Media-Hot Docs Funds consist of a $3-million Completion Fund and a $1-million Development Fund that aim to provide Canadian documentary filmmakers with much needed financial support at critical stages in their projects. Hot Docs will manage and disperse the Funds’ benefit monies over a seven-year period.

By offering financial support to filmmakers at critical stages in their projects, the Shaw Media-Hot Docs Funds is proud to nurture Canadian talent and give voice to diverse viewpoints.

Since 2008, the Shaw Media-Hot Docs Funds have supported 127 Canadian documentary projects with $2,909,000 in grants and no-interest loans.

The second round of 2014 funding is now open, with a final deadline on October 22, at 11:59 p.m. PST.


Shaw Media-Hot Docs Completion Fund

The Shaw Media-Hot Docs Completion Fund is a grant program that will provide financial support of up to $100,000 (limited to a maximum of 20% of a project’s budget) for production companies to complete specific projects. Learn More
