On May 3, 2016, the following filmmaking teams participated in the second Hot Docs Short Pitch event.

$75,000 was awarded at the event—first place received $30,000, second place received $25,000 and third place received $20,000. Prize money courtesy of BravoFACT.

REPAIRING SOCIETY
Pitched by Cat Mills (Toronto, ON)
An intimate look at Torontonians, Repairing Society explores who will fix your broken items, why they do it, and why our society needs to start caring about our stuff and each other.

Second Place
SEXUAL BEING
Pitched by Paul Stravropoulos (Toronto, ON)
An exploration of love, sexuality and agency, Sexual Being follows Meaghan, an artist and spiritual teacher, and Chandler, a student and alternative pornography actor, who both have cerebral palsy.

Third Place
MOTHER CANADA (formerly called NORTH OF SMOKEY)
Pitched by Craig Jackson (Moncton, NB)
Follow Ray Stapleton on his quest to have Canada’s largest war memorial, Mother Canada, erected in Green Cove, Cape Breton, despite controversy and governmental change that could crush the project.
