TORONTO, March 23, 2010 - Hot Docs, North America’s largest documentary festival, conference and market, is pleased to host official delegations from France, Germany, Italy, Malaysia, the Nordic region, the UK and USA at this year’s edition, April 29 to May 9. The delegations consist of established producers and broadcasters working in social, cultural and political documentary genres. During the Festival, delegates will have the opportunity to partake in a wealth of networking opportunities, market events and conference sessions.

“We are delighted to welcome seven official delegations this year,” says Chris McDonald, executive director of Hot Docs, “more than we’ve had in this festival’s history. The international representation we enjoy year after year is what makes Hot Docs a premiere and dynamic market. Hot Docs 2010 is sure to provide participating delegates with exciting new opportunities, perspectives, and learning experiences.”

In addition to partaking in a number of professional development sessions, market events and services, and networking opportunities Hot Docs provides, the delegations will also be featured participants during this year’s International Co-Production Day, an intensive, day-long series of presentations, targeted one-on-one meetings and social events aimed at sparking international co-productions. International Co-Production Day takes place on Monday, May 3. The delegations will also be available to network with fellow delegates throughout the Festival at specially scheduled parties and receptions, via the Sales Office in the Rogers Industry Centre, and as accredited participants in Hot Docs’ internationally renowned co-financing event, the Toronto Documentary Forum, May 5 and 6.

France’s official delegation is led by the French Trade Commission and the French Image cluster Iconoval. Germany’s, official delegation is led by AG DOK. Italy’s official delegation is led by the Italian Trade Commission and Doc/It. Malaysia’s official delegation is led by FINAS and Blue In Green Productions. The Nordic region official delegation is led by Filmkontakt Nord. The United Kingdom’s official delegation is led by Sheffield Doc/Fest. The USA’s official delegation is led by IFP, NY-WIFT and Shooting People.

From April 29 to May 9, 2010, Hot Docs will present an outstanding selection of 150+ documentaries from Canada and around the world to Toronto audiences and international delegates. Hot Docs will also mount a full roster of conference sessions, market events and services for documentary practitioners, including the renowned Toronto Documentary Forum, May 5 and 6, and The Doc Shop.
