HOT DOCS HITS THE HIGH SEAS IN 2013 WITH QUARK EXPEDITIONS FOR FLOATING POLAR FILM FESTIVAL
Toronto, August 8, 2012 – Hot Docs and Quark Expeditions are pleased to announce the first-ever Floating Polar Film Festival. Curated by Hot Docs, the festival will be a part of Quark Expeditions’ 2013-14 season.
“In many ways it is a natural partnership,” says Brett Hendrie, Hot Docs managing director. “Like Quark Expeditions’ clientele, documentary audiences are naturally curious and adventurous learners who want to discover more about the world around them. What better way to complement their eye-opening travels than with eye-opening films?”
The Floating Polar Film Festival will be featured during the inaugural 22-day Falklands, South Georgia and Antarctica via Buenos Aires: Explorers and Kings voyage. The festival will feature a diverse documentary program of eight films on topics that may range from ecology and the environment to exploration and adventure. Full program will be announced in summer 2013.
The journey starts on November 2, 2013, on the Sea Spirit, Quark’s luxury adventure ‘all-suites’ ship, on which every voyage features all-inclusive beverages, and every suite features and exterior view and en-suite bath, in-room satellite phone, and a flat screen TV and DVD player. This ship also offers passengers a hot tub and workout room, polar library and many more amenities to suit every passenger’s needs.
As an early booking incentive, travelers who reserve by September 30, 2012, will receive a 25 per cent discount on the top two suites categories and 20 per cent off on all other cabin categories.
