Hot Docs Honours the Passing of Jacques Bensimon
Jacques Bensimon, former head of the National Film Board of Canada (NFB), passed away on Sunday at the age of 69. Mr. Bensimon had an enormous impact on the Canadian filmmaking industry as a writer, editor, director and producer of documentary film, as vice-president of the Banff Television Foundation, as former director general of TFO, as a member of the Hot Docs board of directors, and in various roles at the NFB. In 2005, Bensimon received the Order of Canada, for his contribution to film and culture in this country. A friend and mentor to so many, Jacques Bensimon will truly be missed.
