Pat Ferns - President and Executive Producer, Ferns Productions
Pat is President of Ferns Productions Inc., specializing in blue-chip documentary-drama mini-series, and works with his son Andrew, President of Ferns Entertainment Inc., whose principal focus is drama. Pat and Andrew have produced several major series, including award-winning Captain Cook: Obsession and Discovery and Darwin’s Brave New World (both Australia-Canada co-productions). Pat Ferns is a Principal in the International Institute for Television Leadership, providing media executive training and strategic consultation to various agencies, broadcasters, companies, events and festivals around the world. Pat has produced some of Canada’s finest award-winning programming and the world’s leading media events. As the creator of ‘public pitching’ he presents his signature sessions worldwide. Last year his pitching venues included Adelaide, Cannes, Guangzhou, Ramallah, Taipei, Tel Aviv, Toronto, Victoria and Yuyao. Called in his native land ‘the father of independent production’, Pat was awarded The Order of Canada in 2005 for his services to the industry.
