Doc Camp

Doc Camp is a week-long introduction to documentary filmmaking for aspiring directors, ages 14 to 18 – no experience necessary and it’s absolutely FREE!

Offering youth a dynamic combination of hands-on creativity and lively interaction, Doc Camp participants will learn how to plan, shoot and edit their own short doc while also taking part in exclusive sessions with special guest speakers, including some of Canada’s leading documentarians.

Technology, ideas, inspiration and content are key components of Doc Camp. Each day you will learn about the technical side of filmmaking from our workshop leader and doc mentors, and you will learn about the realities of the documentary world from our daily guest speakers who will inspire and encourage.

Whether you’re a burgeoning director or just looking for a creative way to express yourself, Hot Docs’ Doc Camp is a unique summer experience not to be missed!

Films from Doc Camp 2009 to 2011 are now available for free viewing on the Doc Library.
