The Documentary Organization of Canada (DOC): Advocacy & Programming Overview
DOC is the voice of Canada’s independent documentary community. With six chapters and close to 800 members from coast to coast, DOC conducts vital research and advocacy work to ensure a healthy ecosystem for documentary production; we run professional development and mentorship programs; we create forums for exchange with funders, broadcasters, and other industry partners. We’re a community of mutual support that connects and strengthens documentarians across the country and a site of documentary culture that drives critical thinking about the ethics and practice of documentary storytelling. Join Michelle van Beusekom, the Executive Director of DOC, and representatives from DOC’s six chapters for an overview of our advocacy and programming activities and how they make a difference for you.


European Film Promotion: CONNECT with EUROPE via EFP

European Film Promotion (EFP) is your access point for all things “European film”. EFP is a singular organization made up of an international network of film promotion institutes from 36 countries of Europe, who team up to promote the diversity and spirit of European cinema and talent at key film festivals and markets around the globe. Join Managing Director Sonja Heinen and EFP Board President Markéta Santrochová for an insightful look at EFP’s international programs and what they can offer you. Whether it’s finding the best in upcoming directing and acting talent; identifying experienced co-production partners; or simply having the most up to date information about industry players and international activities, EFP is the one-stop shop for filmmakers and industry professionals.

EFP is collaborating with Hot Docs in presenting the films in The Changing Face of Europe. The organization is supported by Creative Europe Media and its member organizations.


TVO: Singles and Series for TVO Docs
TVO commissions, prebuys and acquires documentaries across several topic categories for broadcast and digital platforms. Our editorial mandate is to explore issues of social conscience. In this micro meeting, Jane Jankovic, Executive Producer of Documentaries, explains what TVO looks for in Canadian and International projects and how to pitch your idea or completed doc or doc series.
