16 Hot Docs Alumni Nominated for Canadian Screen Awards

Hot Docs 2019 opening night film and Hot Docs Ted Rogers Fund alumnus nîpawistamâsowin: We Will Stand Up (D: Tasha Hubbard), If You Could Read My Mind (D: Joan Tosoni, Martha Kehoe) and Prey (D: Matt Gallagher) are nominated for Ted Rogers Best Feature Length Documentary.

Prey, along with Propaganda: The Art of Selling Lies (D: Larry Weinstein) is nominated for Best Editing in a Feature Length Documentary.

Take Me to Prom (D: Andrew Moir) and Acadiana (D: Samuel Matteau, Yannick Nolin, Guillaume Fournier) are nominated for Best Short Documentary.

Havana, from on High (D:Pedro Ruiz) and This Mountain Life (D: Grant Baldwin) are nominated for Best Cinematography in a Feature Length Documentary.

The Accountant of Auschwitz (D: Matthew Shoychet) and The Oslo Diaries (D: Mor Loushy, Daniel Sivan) are nominated for Best History Documentary Program or Series. The Oslo Diaries is also nominated for Best Photography - Documentary or Factual. The Accountant of Auschwitz is also nominated for Best Direction - Documentary Program, the Barbara Sears Award for Best Editorial Research, the Barbara Sears Award for Best Visual Research, Best Picture Editing - Documentary, and Best Original Music - Non-Fiction.

The Corporate Coup D’Etat (D: Fred Peabody) and The Guardians (D: Billie Mintz) are also nominated for Best Original Music - Non-Fiction

Doc Accelerator alumna Alexandra Lazarowich’s project Fast Horse is nominated for the Best Web Program or Series, Non-Fiction Award.

Anthropocene VR (D: Nicholas de Pencier, Jennifer Baichwal, Edward Burtynsky), They Should Be Flowers (D: Karen Chapman) and Traveling While Black (D: Roger Ross Williams, Félix Lajeunesse, Paul Raphaël, Ayesha Nadarajah) are nominated for Best Immersive Experience – Non-Fiction.
