January 2024: Hot Docs Alumni Successes

Congratulations to Hot Docs-Blue Ice Docs Fund alumni The Mother of All Lies, directed by Asmae El Moudir, on receiving the Best Director award at the 39th annual IDA Documentary Awards. The film was also nominated in the Best Writing category. 

We're very excited to announce that two Hot Docs alumni have been selected for the 2024 Academy Awards® shortlist, with Hot Docs Ted Rogers Fund and Corus-Hot Docs Funds recipient To Kill a Tiger (D: Nisha Pahuja) in the Documentary Feature Film category, and Hot Docs-Blue Ice Docs Fund recipient The Mother of All Lies (D: Asmae El Moudir | Morocco) in the International Feature Film category.

Additionally, among the shortlisted films are six Hot Docs 2023 official selections, including The Eternal Memory (D: Maite Alberdi), Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie (D: Davis Guggenheim) and A Still Small Voice (D: Luke Lorentzen) in the Documentary Feature Film category, 20 Days in Mariupol (D: Mstyslav Chernov) in both the Documentary Feature Film and International Feature Film category, as well as Between Earth & Sky (D: Andrew Nadkarni) and How We Get Free (D: Geeta Gandbhir, Samantha Knowles) in the Documentary Short Film category.
