Venues & Accessibility

Between April 26 and May 6, venues across Toronto will be taken over by Hot Docs screenings, audiences and international delegates.


ACCESSIBILITY

Hot Docs is committed to providing accessible environments and to meeting the accommodation needs of all attendees. For additional information, please refer to the 2017 Festival Venue Accessibility Policy and the Hot Docs Accessible Customer Service Plan.

Accessible Screenings
These icons indicate feature film screenings at the Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema, TIFF Bell Lightbox and Scotiabank Theatre that offer closed captioning or described video (audio description), subject to equipment availability. In addition, hearing assist devices are available for all screenings at the TIFF Bell Lightbox and Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema, subject to equipment availability.

In order for closed caption or descriptive video to be available, the prints that we receive from distributors must have been formatted as such. Please note that the equipment is subject to availability and you may be asked to leave a form of ID to ensure the safe return of the equipment. Accessible screenings are presented by Accessible Media Inc. with additional support by The Catherine & Maxwell Meighen Foundation and the Government of Ontario.

Venues
All regular screening and industry venues are wheelchair accessible, with the exception of the Fox Theatre, First Evangelical Lutheran Church and the CraveTV Hot Docs Box Office.

Service animals
Service animals are welcome in the parts of our premises that are open to the public.

Support persons
A person with a disability who is accompanied by a support person will be allowed to have that person accompany them on our premises. Fees will not be charged for support persons for admission to Hot Docs’ venues.

Notice of Temporary Disruption
In the event of a planned or unexpected disruption to services for customers with disabilities Hot Docs will notify customers promptly.

Feedback Process Customers who wish to provide feedback contact us by phone at 416.637.5150, email at [email protected] or in person to venue staff. All feedback will be directed to the Senior Manager, Client Services. Customers can expect to hear back within 48 hours. Complaints will be addressed according to our organization’s regular complaint management procedures.
