Docs For Schools at Home

As school is out, or more precisely moved into the home, our popular Docs For Schools program is pleased to curate a variety of free, online documentary films for middle and high school–aged students.

The selected films will show our world in inspiring and informative ways. A few resources will accompany the films to assist with ideas for discussion or assignments.

Whether you are a parent/guardian or a teacher using the material, we encourage you to pre-screen the films before sharing with your children or students.

If you have any questions or film recommendations, please contact Education and Youth Programs Manager Lesley Sparks at [email protected].

Video Postcard from Home

DFS asked students to send us a Video Postcard From Home during our COVID-19 quarantine time. We are happy to share 10 of the submissions.

Docs For Schools has received a number of teacher requests for the documentary The Biggest Little Farm. With our present structure for the DFS At Home page, we are unable to include new films still in distribution, but we have found these shorts by the director of The Biggest Little Farm, who is also the owner of Apricot Lane Farms. These shorts made for Oprah Winfrey’s Super Soul Short program became the catalyst for the feature. You will recognize some of the animal stories and similar to the feature.

Under ‘Learn More’ we have included the Docs For Schools education package for The Biggest Little Farm, as can assist with assignment ideas.
